Drug Category: Folic acid inhibitor/sulphonamide.
Generic Name: Co-trimoxazole.
Contents: Duplex Tabs: Trimethoprim 160mg, sulphamethoxazole 800mg.
Susp: Per 5ml: Trimethoprim 40mg, sulphamethoxazole 200mg,
Tabs: Trimethoprim 80mg, sulphamethoxazole 400mg.
Indications: Infections of respiratory, gastro-intestinal tracts and skin. UTI.
Dosage: Adults: 1 DS tab or 2 tabs or 20ml twice daily. Children: Under 6 weeks, not recommended; 6 weeks- 5 month,2.5ml; 6 months-5 years, 5nl, 6-12 years, 10ml. All twice daily.

CHLOROMYCETIN HC Parke-Davis/Pfizer
Drug Category: Antibiotic: Chloramphenicols /corticosteroid.
Generic Name: Chloramphenicol hydrocortisone Eye Oint.
Contents: Ophth Oint: Chloramphenicol 1%, hydrocortisone acetate 0.5%.
Indications: Ocular infections.
Dosage: Adults & Children: Apply once daily to once hourly depending on severity.
Contra-ind: Viral, fungal, tuberculous or purulent infections. Glaucoma.
Precautions: Prolonged use in pregnancy or infants.
Adverse effects: Rise in intraocular pressure, corneal thinning, cataract. Aplastic anaemia (rare).
